September at BASC

September is here, and we have a busy month ahead! Along with our regular weekly activities, we have several special programs and gatherings coming up.

We are also continuing to make changes around the Center to make BASC more organized, welcoming, and easier for members and the community to stay connected with.

Program Spotlight: Woodcarving

Wednesdays at 10:30 AM

One of BASC’s most unique recurring programs is our Woodcarving Group, which meets each Wednesday at 10:30 AM.

This is a small, friendly group of experienced carvers who enjoy working together and are especially interested in helping new people learn the craft. No previous woodcarving experience is necessary.

Whether you have always wanted to give carving a try or are simply looking for a new hobby, this is a great opportunity to learn in a relaxed setting from people who are happy to share what they know.

New participants are always welcome!

Regular Hours Return in September

Beginning in September, BASC will return to our regular hours:

Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM Friday: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

Please remember that some programs may occasionally take place outside of regular Center hours.

Labor Day Closure

The Barre Area Senior Center will be closed Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.

We will reopen with our regular schedule on Tuesday.

Changes Are Afoot at BASC!

You may have noticed a few changes happening around the Center... and there are more to come.

As we look toward shaping the future of BASC, we are continuously working to improve how we organize, communicate, and share information with both our members and the broader community.

Some of our current priorities include making upcoming programs easier to find, improving our event publicity, keeping members better informed about what is happening at the Center, improving organizational systems behind the scenes, and providing greater transparency about BASC and how we operate.

Not every change will happen overnight, but the goal is simple: to make BASC an even more welcoming, organized, active, and accessible community space.

In order to achieve that goal, we need your help. Please feel free to share your ideas and feedback with our staff so we can continue working toward a Center where everyone feels welcome.

This will be a casual opportunity to meet and talk with some of BASC’s newer staff and Board members, ask questions, share ideas, and learn a little more about what is happening at the Center.

There is no formal presentation—just food, conversation, and an opportunity to connect with our Center staff, Board members, volunteers, and one another.

We hope you’ll stop by!

Senior Living & Care Information Session

Immediately following the Soup Festival, everyone is encouraged to stay for a free presentation beginning at 12:15 PM covering the fundamentals of senior living and care.
