Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: October 2026

The Barre Area Senior Center, Inc. (BASC) is committed to making our website accessible and usable for older adults, people with disabilities, and all members of our community.

We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort. We work to make our website easy to navigate, easy to read, and compatible with a variety of devices and assistive technologies.

Our Accessibility Efforts

BASC works to follow generally recognized website accessibility practices and aims to make our website usable by as many people as possible.

Our efforts include using clear and readable text, strong color contrast, straightforward navigation, descriptive headings, appropriately sized buttons and links, and layouts designed to remain understandable when text is enlarged.

We also make reasonable efforts to provide alternative text or descriptions for meaningful images and to avoid relying solely on color to communicate important information.

Designed with Older Adults in Mind

Because BASC primarily serves older adults, accessibility and readability are especially important to us.

Our website is designed with larger text, simple navigation, clear page organization, and easy-to-find information about programs, events, newsletters, membership, and Center resources.

We try to avoid unnecessarily complicated menus, small text, excessive visual clutter, and other features that may make information difficult to find or read.

Assistive Technology

We strive to make the BASC website compatible with commonly used assistive technologies, including screen readers, browser zoom tools, keyboard navigation, and accessibility features built into computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

Individual experiences may vary depending on the device, browser, software, or assistive technology being used.

Documents & Downloadable Materials

Our website may contain newsletters, calendars, flyers, forms, PDFs, and other downloadable documents.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure these materials are readable and accessible. However, some documents, particularly older materials or documents provided by outside organizations, may not be fully accessible with all assistive technologies.

If you are unable to access information contained in a document, please contact BASC and we will make reasonable efforts to provide the information in another format.

Third-Party Content

Some pages may contain links, forms, applications, maps, videos, or other content provided by third-party services.

BASC does not control the accessibility of websites or technology operated by other organizations. We encourage third-party providers we work with to make their services accessible, but we cannot guarantee the accessibility of external content.

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing process. As our website changes and new content is added, we will continue reviewing the site and making improvements where reasonably possible.

If we become aware of an accessibility issue, we will make reasonable efforts to correct it or provide another way to access the affected information.

Need Assistance Accessing Information?

If you experience difficulty accessing any part of the BASC website, please let us know.

We are happy to help provide information about our programs, events, services, schedules, or other website content by phone, in person, or in another reasonable format when possible.

When contacting us about an accessibility issue, it is helpful to let us know which page or information you were trying to access and what difficulty you experienced.

Accessibility Feedback

We welcome feedback about the accessibility of our website. If you notice something that is difficult to read, navigate, understand, or access using assistive technology, please contact us so we can review the issue.

Changes to This Statement

BASC may update this Accessibility Statement as our website, technology, or accessibility practices change. The most current version will be posted on this page with the date it was last updated.
